We are looking for a motivated and talented engineering student who is interested in developing skills that cross over from analytical to manufacturing. This opportunity will allow the candidate to develop their engineering knowledge and use material structure property relationships to improve manufacturing processes for optimum product performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned):
· Develop understanding of all aspects of the manufacturing process using key analytical tools. Drying, rheology and thermal properties of materials are all key aspects of this process.
· Familiar with or willing to learn how to use various analytical laboratory equipment including:
· SEM
· AFM
· TGA
· DSC
· TMA
· parallel plate rheometer
· capillary rheometer
· moisture analysis
· polarizing light microscopy
· particle size analysis
· gas psychometry
· Ability to make data driven decisions based on analytical results and understanding of the manufacturing processes, experience with design of experiments and statistical data analysis.
Education and Skill Requirements:
· Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Materials Science & Engineering preferred, students welcome to apply for internships
· Familiarity with Microsoft office suite, MiniTab, MatLab, Trios and CAD software
· Understanding of polymer compounding and twin screw extrusion is a plus
· Strong communication skills, oral and written are required
· Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced work environment
