Vacancy: Senior Back-End Engineer

Location: Vilnius, Lithuania (hybrid)

The Engineering team within the Licensing Business in Johnson Matthey is going through a fundamental shift in the way it works from using document centric processes to data centric ones. We are looking for a hands-on Senior .NET developer to work with our team to upgrade existing .NET and VBA based tools and to help us develop the next generation of tools that our engineers will use to design new sustainable processes for our customers.

You will work as part of a cross-functional agile team, collaborating with other developers, process engineering SMEs, and product owners to deliver high-quality software products that meet the needs of our internal users. You will use your skills and knowledge of C# and .NET, to design, develop, and deploy scalable and secure applications that integrate with various systems and data sources. You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of our software development practices and standards, ensuring code quality, performance, and reliability.

You will be responsible for documenting your work in a clear and concise manner. This will include creating technical specifications, user guides, and other documentation to help other members of the team understand your work and use the software effectively. This is a new team within a mature IT function – meaning you would have the opportunity to help build a delivery team of developers to support the business in this transition.

Your responsibilities:

  • Develop, test, and maintain software applications using C#, and .NET technologies, following best practices and guidelines
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design to deployment and maintenance
  • Work closely with other developers, analysts, engineers, and product owners to understand business requirements and deliver solutions that meet user expectations and technical specifications
  • Integrate software applications with various systems and data sources, ensuring data accuracy, security, and compliance
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in existing software applications, providing timely and effective support and feedback
  • Document and communicate software design, functionality, and changes to relevant stakeholders
  • Research and evaluate new technologies and tools to improve software development efficiency and quality
  • Developing a vision and potential team structure for a new project team to support the business as we evolve our ways of working
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior talent and share best practices and learnings with the team
  • Create and develop relationships with your development team members and other stakeholders, to enable effective and quality delivery Agile DevOps delivery projects and programmes.
  • Be a key point of contact and lead collaboration between JMIT and wider Process Engineering function
  • Document all work in a clear and concise manner, including technical specifications, user guides, and other documentation to help other members of the team understand your work and use the software effectively.

Requirements for the role:

  • At least 4+ years of experience in desktop .NET development
  • Experience in developing Excel plugins
  • Experience working and leading in an Agile environment
  • Experience interfacing with database tools
  • Experience working as a Process Engineer with JIRA or other DevOps tools and processes
  • Knowledge of software development life cycle; ability to use a structured methodology for delivering and managing new or enhanced software products to the market.
  • Experience working with Azure or similar cloud platforms.

How you will be rewarded:

Salary range for this position starts from 61,000 to 75,000 EUR per year depending on candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies.
